In the first quarter of what would become a 57-0 blowout of clearly lesser opponent, Central High football coach Sid Edwards instructed his quarterback to throw a behind-the-back pass for a 2-point conversion. The play was successful. Video of it is below.

Of the play, Sid Edwards commented,
"One, it's a misdirection play, which on this particular night was effective. Two, for fun. I mean, these are high school kids and like to have a good time. And at the same time, we're not out to embarrass the opponent."
Not out to embarrass your opponent? Is the education system in the south really this bad? Another Sid Edwards quote sheds light on that hypothesis,
"We have run many wacky things over the years, some even more wackier than this, but I had no idea it would get this much attention, it's very interesting. I wasn't expecting nothing like this. I was expecting maybe get on Sportsline or something like that. Now, all my friends call me, texting me, 'You're on like ESPN.' It's great. It's a different feeling."
Sid's grammar is almost as offensive as his sportsmanship. Showing up 17 year-old kids is one thing, to take pride in it is another.
