On June 6th, 1986, Willie Horton was released from prison for a weekend under the state of Massachusetts' furlough program. He did not return. The next year, on April 3, Horton raped a woman and assaulted her fiancé. The governer of Massachusetts at the time of Horton's release was Democrat Michael Dukakis, who later ran for President in 1988 against George H. W. Bush.

As you can imagine, Bush's political team used the Willie Horton incident to destroy Dukakis and run away with the election.

If the Willie Horton incident destroyed Michael Dukakis' career, then by all objective standards, the Maurice Clemmons incident should destroy former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee's. Unless, or course, objectivity doesn't play a role in your analysis of facts.
