Intershame On: Glenn Beck |
President Obama is a Racist
07/29/2009
UPDATE: Fox News SVP of Programming Bill Shine has apologized for Beck's comments.
"During Fox & Friends this morning, Glenn Beck expressed a personal opinion which represented his own views, not those of the Fox News Channel. And as with all commentators in the cable news arena, he is given the freedom to express his opinions."
I'll translate...
"This morning, Glenn Beck made a controversial remark that we wish to distance our network from. However, we will continue to employ Mr. Beck and profit from any and all asinine comments he makes in the future."
Here is the original report:
Fox News commentator Glenn Beck swung by the set of Fox and Friends this morning to offer his insight into the psyche of President Obama. Below is the video and transcipt of Beck's incomprehensive, dense and unenlightening analysis...
This president I think he has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep seated hatred for white people or the white culture, I don't know what it is, but you can't sit in a pew with Jeremiah Write for 20 years and not hear some of that stuff and not have it wash over.
...
This guy has a social justice, he's going to set all of the wrongs of the past right.
...
I'm not saying he doesn't like white people I'm saying he has a problem. He has a - this guy, I believe, is a racist.
Beck begins his hypothesis with, "I think he has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep seeded hatred for white people" then 40 seconds later claims, "I'm not saying he doesn't like white people".
If this schizophrenic breakdown of President Obama's racial beliefs doesn't ruin Beck's credibility, perhaps this this this this this this this this this or this will. It's a wonder the words "Beck" and "credibility" are able to co-exist in the same sentence without ripping a hole trough space-time.
The cherry on top of this sundae of ignorance has to be the fact that Obama's mother is white. If we apply the transitive property to simpleton Beck's inane rambling we can deduce the following: Obama has a problem with white people and Obama's mother is white. Therefore Obama has a problem with his mother. Good luck trying to make that case.

- 1023 days agoGlen Beck is a disgrace, not to mention a total douchebag. No one on the Fox Opinion channel (formerly known as Fox News) has any credibility whatsoever. Bill O'Reilly? He was on Inside Edition, a tabloid show. And don't get me started on Geraldo... LOL
- 1022 days agoyeah well hitler executed mentally handicapped people and people with a high risk family history of mental retardation even though he himself had a high percentage of insanity in his recent ancestry...
- 1022 days agoSince when has vocalizing your opinion about an elected official cause for removal from a position? This is funny because here I was thinking we had the freedom of speech and the right to question those in charge, maybe I am wrong...
- 1022 days agoOf course we have the freedom to question those in charge, unless they are liberal democrats, because everyone knows that they are always right and never do anything wrong!
- 1022 days agoWhat boggles the mind is that this complete and total idiot, who must have the IQ of a hamster, has the third most popular show on radio. What is wrong with the American people?
- 1022 days agoFunny... I don't recall such an uproar when Hugo Chavez called President Bush the devil!
- 1022 days agoI love how liberals always attack the personal intelligence of those who speak out against them, and yet most conservatives try to argue the actual issues and beliefs that are involved...
- 1022 days agoabaddon, 'always' isn't true. I've made the same observation about conservatives and can point you to a few million blog comments that serve to illustrate it, though I am sure with your internet skills you can find them on your own. What's going on here is that there are several media outlets that insist on investigating Obama's 'real' place of birth, his racist attitudes (hard to reconcile with his multicolored administration and family), his poor leadership (currently being used to fix what remains of George Bush's legacy problems), etc. See, I managed to do that without calling you or conservatives names. I can seldom find ANY reasoned arguments that don't descend to name calling on the part of conservatives OR liberals (of whcih I am one), but Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Dobbs, Coulter TRAFFIC in outrage. In some cases, they appear to actually lie, repeatedly, even after being debunked. If you want to contribute to civil discourse, state your opinions, cite your facts, draw your conclusions and commit to reason. Let your ideas and ideals fight it out. I see no evidence that you are doing that here. Complaining about what liberals do is not advancing your position. USE your intelligence to make your point. Some of us listen. Some of us are reasonable. Just like some conservatives.
- 1022 days agomojopitch and abaddon, you must have pretty good insulation from reality. I certainly remember a great uproar when Chavez made his devil comment. I can't think of a single example of a person who would accept the "conservative" label arguing issues and beliefs rather that vindictive. Right or left, there is no public discourse: there is only name calling and vitriol.
- 1022 days agoWhat's going on here is that there are several media outlets that insist on investigating Bush's time spent in the service with a cooked up document(hard to reconcile since the font was not yet created), his poor leadership (currently being used to fix what remains of Bill Clintons legacy problems), etc. Go be liberal in another country...
- 1022 days agoIt's pretty easy to attack the intelligence of a person who contradicts himself within 40 seconds and provides no basis for his claims.
Seriously, who watches this trash? - 1022 days agoWhat an idiot! Maybe Mr. Beck is the racist, he is the one concerned about african americans being appointed to important positions by the President. I am appalled that individuals like Mr. Beck even receive air time. Grow up and get your head out of you ass!
- 1022 days agoPerhaps BO was expressing an opinion about an arrest for a verbal outburst. Having taught constitutional law maybe he's entitled to an opinion and finds it difficult not to share it. Lets forgive him for meddling prematurely in the minefield of race relations before the resolution process had run it's course. If not, let's give Gum Bark more press coverage by arresting him for disturbing the peace.
- 1022 days agoI will refrain from calling Glenn Beck an idiot...actually, I almost think the way he plays on the fears of the conservatives in America is quite genius in a way. I detest Mr. Beck, believe me. But, you cannot deny how clever he is at causing an uproar. I am, however, saddened and very scared of the American citizens that actually believe and base their opinions on the absolute garbage that comes out of his mouth! As well as Hannity, Limbaugh, Dobbs, Coulter, O'Reilly...My problem isn't that he is using free speech, because that is the beauty of America. My problem is that he is using free speech for the power of evil! Giving radical groups like white supremacists, birthers, pro-life activists even more fuel for their already out of control fires.
- 1022 days agosorry ninjaman, the liberals love open minded people, as long as you agree with them. Otherwise, they want to censor and shut you down. Freedome of speech, as long as the left agrees with you. Conservatives have their weirdnessess, but they're a LOT less weird than the liberals.
- 1022 days agoTo the "conservatives" on this thread... Why all the generalizations of liberals, huh? Did a liberal bully you in high school? I personally don't mind others having their own views, so please back off of the "liberals this, the liberals that". Come up with a little more valid arguement, please.
- 1022 days agook...how about the facts. I know this will be difficult, but...here goes; Obama went to a racist church for 20 years. Obama doesn't know all the facts, but opens his big mouth and calls cops stupid and racists. I'd say Mr. Beck has a case. Your turn
- 1022 days agoas if there were no generalizations of the conservatives by the left... PLEASE!!
- 1022 days agoI don't disagree about generalizations on the part of both. I just feel there are more respectful ways to make your point. And, as for the racist church Obama attended for 20 years...where is your actual proof this is indeed a racist church. I mean, a lot, not all, of conservatives claim to be religious. So, maybe you can tell me why any church would believe that being racist is considered to be just or the ways of a loving deity? Sorry, I don't buy it.
- 1022 days agoConservatives do seem to pander to fear, in order to sell less government meddling/control in our lives. Which while maybe not the best approach, beats what the other side sells hands down (nannie state).
Roshitoshi, just search Jeremiah Wright. That will answer your questions. - 1022 days agoNinjaman said: "Since when has vocalizing your opinion about an elected official cause for removal from a position? This is funny because here I was thinking we had the freedom of speech and the right to question those in charge, maybe I am wrong..." You are wrong. Freedom of speech prevents the government from hindering your speech. It doesn't keep your employer from firing you for publicly saying something that hurts their bottom line. For example, see: Jimmy The Greek (CBS), Rush Limbaugh (ESPN), Tim Hardaway (CBA).
- 1022 days agoJust as we have the right to free speech, we were also born with free will... So be it, Jeremiah wright wants to be a racist. His choice. But, once again, getting me to buy the fact that Obama is racist will take more than that. Look at his family tree...
- 1022 days agoGreat googly moogly! Conservatives, liberals, republicans, democrats... where are the Americans in all of this? Glen Beck is obviously hated by the "cultural elite" because he has a voice and uses it. He is shunned by some of the "conservative base" because he gets so animated and loud. He is a self-confessed A.D.D. who also happens to be right a lot of the time and is unafraid of confronting the "elephant in the room". Get used to it because he has millions of fans.
- 1022 days agoReally mature. Way to prove your point. Perfect example of what i was previously referring to. Thanks.
- 1022 days agoAh, the "cultural elite" raises its head! roshitoshi, please teach me. This is a "teachable moment"... I am soooooo simple-minded and foolish. Help me understand. OR.... Boo!
- 1022 days agoSo Obama's family tree gives him a pass, much like white people who can't be racist because they "have black friends"?
- 1022 days agoI too will refrain from calling Glen Beck an idiot. Because that would be an insult to idiots.
- 1022 days ago@ mojopitch: It is not a fact that Obama's church was/is racist. That would be an opinion. It would be a fact if the church actively pursued racist activities/goals, publicly promoting them as it went. Can you site proof of this? Just the act of calling something a fact doesn't make it so. Yes he should have exercised better judgment when he answered the press question regarding the arrest of that professor. However, based on the facts he had, I'd say that stupid is a pretty succinct description of two police officers who arrest a man in his own home (they did show up long after he had gotten into his house) for breaking into it even after he produced identification verifying that it was in fact his home. And by the way, Obama did not bring race into that question. It was framed that way by the reporter who asked it. Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and other fringe commentators who traffic in fear serve no purpose other than to make calm, reasonable conservatives look bad. Frankly statements like the ones you make piss me off because they undo any work that people like myself (yes, I consider myself to be conservative) do towards bridging that gap between liberal and conservative politics. Encouraging baseless claims like the ones Glenn Beck makes only makes our movement look worse, not better. We aren't going to win over any liberal minds with name calling and foolhardy talk first, think later statements. Next time, try to think before you stick your foot in your mouth.
- 1022 days ago@hollerout - So where does that leave the public debate on Obama? Is he more black than white? Is he more white than black? Seems his heritage is 50-50. I think culturally he sees himself as black. That's his privilege as far as I'm concerned, although it seems to disrespect his mother and grandmother who contributed the most to his upbringing. @schnauzermom - Seems you have a bias against mentally challenged persons which causes you to tend to throw around disparaging terms pretty casually.
- 1022 days ago@billyz - oh what a smorgasbord of goofy rhetoric! Here we have another of the cultural elite cloaking themselves in conservatism! Ha! I see right through your little ploy, Billy! Those who claim superior intelligence by pointing out the neanderthal methods of those they disdain make me sick. Who could possibly miss the fact that, in a Church where hatred for whites is preached steadily, there is racism at the core? Wouldn't that make the Church racist? Pussy-footing around the truth doesn't advance the nation. We must sometimes use hyperbole to expose the truth and this is what Glen Beck does so well. Raising the issues where others give them a pass makes him very un-popular among the cultural elite.
- 1022 days agoOn a side note, not playing to the whole conservative vs. liberal argument here. From what I've seen, there is a strong argument for BO going to the church of Jeremiah Wright. I grew up in MS and attended several churches who would have been appalled if a black person or in this case BIRACIAL person ever stepped in their door. They actually taught that black ppl came from Monkeys and were the devil's decedents. Ok oK I know you are all like well this is one church. Nope, this was every church I attended across the state. A very common occurrence. Hence, why I do not put much value in church or religion period. But back to the side note, I'm not racist. I actually was shunned for dating an African American. So how does him going to a particular church make him a racist? I fail to see the validation in this. If thats the case, every person I know is racist which in my opinion is not the case. And lets be honest here, Barack Obama was agnostic until he attended that church and in all fairness he probably only did this to appease his wife and his political career. Because for some reason in this country you have to be a bible thumper to get elected into public office which I think is absurd.
- 1022 days ago@aepannel - Glen Beck was not using the Jerimiah Wright point to prove but to reinforce his claim that Obama is a racist. The initial point is that Obama's racism drove him to observe that the police handled the issue "stupidly". This is how that racism was manifest. Not my opinion, but let's be fair to Mr. Beck. By the way, were you raised by Ku Klux Klan members? I've spent a lot of time in MS and have seen racism there but not in EVERY Church.
- 1022 days agoLol speaking of stupid... RTTA. In America we have the RIGHT to our opinion. We may publicly express this opinion without fear of censorship. We may discuss said opinion without fear of opression. Any person that can follow logic can see Glenn Beck is not too far off of the mark. If A=B and B=C then A=C. It doesn't take a nuclear physicist to see that is correct. The actions and comments of our President have shown his racism. Actions speak louder than words. Unless of course if you're part of the Liberal left... Name calling, denegrating, and pointing fingers seems all the left is able to do. If Glenn Beck's show is so popular, how do you think it got to be that way? Do you honestly believe the business owners, and income producers of this country are idiots? That's his demographic. That's his viewership. Maybe it's time to take your head out of the presses arse and think for yourself a bit huh?
- 1022 days agothe problem here is not Glenn Beck, but rather the racism in America that Mr. Beck so aptly appeals to. As ChillyB pointed out, Glenn Beck IS popular within a demographic, and the issue is that that demographic exists, not that Glenn Beck exists. And when I speak of racism, I mean the racism that has been so pervasive in America for the past 300 years, and is still a social issue. Every politician of color is labaled a "racist" simply for acknowledging, from a place of personal experience, that America is still a country dragged down by racism. Is this not racism? A politician who is white would NEVER have to answer such questions as how and if their race affected their thinking process, and is this not a privilege? the important fact is, that racism is NOT an offhand comment made by a black politician (which I think was completely justified -- you can have your opinion). Racism is a system of power and class structure that advantages white people and has advantaged white people through out the history of America. Racism is actions of consequence, it is an unequal education system, a history defined by slavery, a class system in which black people have STILL not economically recovered from slavery.. it is unequal access to resources, to oppurtunities, it is the marriage of class and race, .. it can be seen in the disproportionately high incarceration rates, poverty rates, and drop out rates of black citizens. THIS is racism -- a system, an institution, in which all people do not have an equal oppurtunity because of the black eye which is American racial history (the lynchings, the klu klux klan, the white on black rapes...the separate but equal laws -- do you remember these? THAT was racism ) It is NOT a comment with little or no consequence attached. Has Barack Obama EVER passed a bill that has disadvantaged white people in such a way? no. Crying racism at such a minor comment would misrepresent -- and disrespect -- a class of people who were forced to live through a time of ACTUAL racism.
- 1022 days agoracism will continue exist as long as the racial stereotypes continue to be perpetuated. Blacks don't wanna be known for murders, crime, and gang violence? Wellp, guess, what: http://projects.nytimes.com/crime/homicides/map - over 60% of murders committed in NYC were done by black people.
- 1022 days ago"I think culturally he sees himself as black. That's his privilege as far as I'm concerned, although it seems to disrespect his mother and grandmother who contributed the most to his upbringing." How the hell would his racial identity be disrespectful to either his mother or grandmother?
- 1022 days ago@atomeve - Pardon me, but you are not allowed to define what constitutes racism. It is what it is, no matter what you think. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but don't give your own meaning to the word. While I agree that there are a great number of bigots remaining in our country, I doubt that you would say that Minister Farrakahn is non-racist. How could you? He claims that white people are devils! That fits the correct definition of racism. Now let's get on with the dialog. Oh, and as for the "system" being at fault, our cultural elite are responsible for that. They and they alone believe that black people are so inferior that they can't succeed without "affirmative action", true meaning - give black people an advantage in hiring and admission at universities. I personally believe and see abundant evidence that all people, whether white, black, hispanic, etc. have the opportunity in America to go as far as their abilities and drive will take them, with very few exceptions nowadays.
- 1022 days ago@sniperjoe - My opinion - that Obama sees himself, culturally, to be black - it seems to disrespect his mother and grandmother who contributed the most to his upbringing. That, because they were white. Turn the tables. Had they been black and his father white, let Obama see himself culturally as white... do you see the point? Again, my opinion...not suggesting it is fact.
- 1022 days ago@realjimbo Why am I now a social elitist!? This is news to me! I am sorry I fail to see your logic. I am sorry that I apparently offended you enough to feel the need to give me some bogus title when you know nothing about me. But, I am sure you are plenty comfortable sitting back and applying your standards to others. I hope you realize someday that those are your standards and your perception. Just because mine are not the same as yours does not mean I feel elite in any way. Only different. This also applies to everyone else you will encounter in life...to each their own. It is all perspective. Mine perspective will not change just because you feel it is wrong and vice versa. If someone defines racism or any other belief differently from you, that is their right.
- 1022 days agoObamas use of the word "stupid", may have been harsh but it is accurate. Gates was a private citizen, in his own home when the police burst in. True, cooler heads on BOTH sides could have prevented it from escalating. But Mass. does not include being rude to a police officer as "disorderly conduct". Thats why the charges were dropped.
- 1022 days ago@ninjaman: freedom of speech does not mean freedom from criticism. it just means that the government cannot prosecute or imprison you for what you say (barring eminent threats & etc.) nowhere in our constitution does it say that people should not be judged by the public for saying stupid, offensive things.
- 1022 days agoroshitoshi - no matter what you may say - absolutely your right to say it - the definition of racism is in the dictionary. It is not what atomeve said it is. Again, "it is what it is and not what just anyone wants it to be". Truth is what it is and not what we perceive it to be. Sorry if you were offended by the lofty moniker of "cultural elite", but again, that's my opinion. (That can change, roshitoshi...my opinion as yet has not been set in stone.)
- 1022 days ago@bleh77777 - please learn about Tuskagee (syphilus experiments) and Rochester (handicapped children dosed with radiation) -- the experiments done are not so different between Germany and America -- and congratulations for breaking Godwin's law in the second comment.
- 1022 days agorealjimbo: You claim to "cleverly" see through the "ploys" of the "cultural elite", but really you expose yourself as an ill-versed, ill-educated, ignorant scamp who watches too much television. And as far as definitions, in the first place, dictionary definitions are akin suggestions. The English language changes with however it's used by people. There are no hard and fast definitions that will necessarily stay hard and fast next year. But mostly, DID YOU EVEN READ ATOMEVE's POST? I thought it well-worded, poignant, and apt. Before you can fire off your standard silliness, I'll do it for you. I'm a cultural elite who's a leftie, and um, I, smother puppies. Yes, that'll do. I'm going, but one last thing: "Those who claim superior intelligence by pointing out the neanderthal methods of those they disdain make me sick." So when you're dealing with a Neanderthal, how exactly am I supposed to show my superior intelligence without making you sick? Oh that's right, there's not a way, because you talk like an ape, and I'm intelligent. No matter what I do, I'll seem more intelligent and probably make you sick. Oh and I'm usually a nice guy, I only disdain you because you're not logical or reasonable. You argue, like tv conservatives, like a child.
- 1022 days agorealjimbo- I am simply trying to say, literal definition aside, that everyone perceives what is racist to themselves differently. So, according to how I perceive this Glenn Beck clip, he has turned a black man saying the cop acted stupidly into a racial slur because it was directed at a white man. I am sure when turned around, the same could be perceived if that is what you consider racist. To me, he simply stated the man, as a cop, a supposed professional, acted inappropriately. The actual word itself cannot be deemed racist in any way. And, the fact that Glenn Beck has gone to the length of calling him racist based on this (and his church affiliation?)is absurd to me.
- 1022 days ago@atomeve Nice explanation of racism. Rape is similar: its not about the sex, its about the power. Racism is not about calling people names, but about an attempt to place one race over another in a power structure. The police officer who referred to gates as a "jungle monkey" shows that racism is still just below the surface.
- 1022 days ago@atomeve-I second what mOhio feels! very poignant. @billyz-same goes for you!
- 1022 days agoOh gosh... I am really going to love making up my own definitions! Yurdletheturtle - in the words of my late grandmother, "you're too big for your britches". Roshitoshi - I think we could have a good face-to-face conversation as I think we are near understanding one another. mOhio - I agree. Attempting to place one race over another fits the accepted definition of racism. It stinks and is so damaging to our society, no matter which race is attempting to place itself over another. So all will know, I am ecstatic that we have a black President. On the other hand, I am appalled that it is Obama, who, in my humble opinion, is so underqualified so as to not even benefit adequately from good advisors. He has very little time to turn things around and get the nation on board with good, solid, well-crafted reforms in place. Nobody will support him any stronger than will I should he find his way. I will even help him find his way given the chance. How many of you dear readers can spend your way out of financial collapse?
- 1022 days agoFrankly I believe it is an outright threat to national security. FOX & Beck are practically stirring up fanatic, racist people to try and assassinate our president. Every time someone shoots up a public place, like the holocaust museum of the church or an abortion clinic... all the suspects were avid fans of FOX NEWS. How many more people have to be murdered to satisfy their ratings? You can log a complaint to the FCC online. Do it! https://esupport.fcc.gov/sform2000/formE!input.action?form_page=2000E
- 1022 days agoSwingJay - Now who's the raving fanatic? Every time? All the suspects? You are a dangerous lunatic, stirring up hatred toward people who do not agree with you.
- 1022 days agoSwingJay - Now who's the raving fanatic? Every time? All the suspects? You are a dangerous lunatic, stirring up hatred toward people who do not agree with you. This year, every suspect involved with racist, political, religious belief shootings were in to FOX NEWS. It's just a fact man. MSNBC watchers do not shoot abortion doctors and guards at Holocaust museums. Ever. FOX NEWS watchers do. They feel motivated & justified when they hear HATE spewed on their fav TV news channel. 1 out of every 1,000 people has serious mental problems. When FOX broadcasts to multi-millions of people every day there are some who will snap. Law of averages.
- 1022 days ago@swingjay What political affiliation do you think the eco terrorist associate with. Should we blame their bombings on Al Gore and the other green wackos that play on end of the world fears? Back on topic. Lets examine the situation. When it comes to power, who had more? The officer, who has the power to arrest people but must answer/limited to the constitution (lawyers,Judges). Or Gates, who is famous Harvard professor and is connected/friends with many powerful people including both the President of the United States and the Cambridge Police Chief. Remember he was calling the police chief while this incident took place. So if racism is about 'power', then clearly Gates is the racist.
- 1022 days ago@hollerout - you have obviously missed the point. i am saying racism is about a system of power, i.e. not an isolated incident such as this.
- 1022 days ago@hollerout open your eyes, of course racism is about power and the implications of actions and opinions, or why else would anybody care? if a man is alone in the woods and is racist he affects nobody. but if the man is a founding father of the United States and believes that black people only should count as "3/5ths of a person," than THIS has implications.
- 1022 days agoFlame on! Question...I am a white man and I felt that the Officer Crowley's actions were stupid. Does that make me a racist?
- 1022 days ago@realjimbo "I personally believe and see abundant evidence that all people, whether white, black, hispanic, etc. have the opportunity in America to go as far as their abilities and drive will take them, with very few exceptions nowadays." -this is where you are obviously naive, i don't know what has afforded you such privilege (race, gender, social class?) but obviously it is a guarantee for you that your hard work will be adequately rewarded, which has lead you to believe that America is a [fair] meritocracy. however this is not true for everyone. some people work hard but cannot afford college, while others don't work hard and are admitted into college because their parents went there or gave money to the college or because they went to private school or live in a wealthy community with a reputable public school system. yes there are people who rise out of poverty or above race, but they are of the minority and single stories of success do not compete with the statistics of college attendance rates, drop out rates, and avg. job salaries of those who come from poverty (and mind you, race is tied very closely with class).
- 1022 days agoMy eyes are open. My point is that while implications of racism run deep, Gates is himself a model of how far things have come. And by going on what little we know about what really happened that night, Obama and Gates were/are the only people focused race. I appears the officer was more upset by Gates disrespect lack of cooperation. Which is by no means a reason to arrest someone. However, it happens everyday to all races.
- 1022 days agoyea, i agree and I don't think this was an act of racism, and if it was, it is not Gates I feel for [becuase he has so much political power], but others [both black and white] who have been mistreated by the police on grounds of class / or race and have not had the power or means to bring attention to the incident.
- 1022 days agoI believe you all need to more accurately define the words you throw around. The generalisations are sickening. Here is a little help courtesy of the mac dictionary. There is also another definition of Liberal which fits under the Conservative banner. Capitalists who believe in small government. The call themselves Liberals. These are not the real issues that daunt the United States. The biggest problem in the US is neither Liberalism or Conservatism it is Lobbyism. Lobbyism The practice of influencing legislators to favor special interests Regardless of your views you have to understand that these are the most underhanded criminal acts going on right under your nose, and its legal. Which brings me to my next point. Your all 2nd class citizens, because you are not ruled by a government your ruled by the corporations who line the pockets of of your governors. The 1st class citizens are the corporations. And until there is some serious legislation to outlaw lobbyism there is not hope for any real progress. Now on to Glenn Beck. If you believe anything this guy or in fact anyone at Fox News then your seriously misguided, deluded, and generally an asshole. Lies lies lies and more lies. The fact the Beck has a huge audience is quite scary, and testament to the amount of very stupid people in the US. These comments about Obama being racist are pure sensationalism. Fox News is clearly a TV tabloid. So you got rid of the criminals who were in power, and there is no doubt they were/are/will continue to be criminals. Criminals supported by the likes of Beck and the ultimate nut bags Limbaugh, O'Rielly and that wimp tool Hannity. And all you right wing idiots can do is come up with is "Obama is racist", "Obama has no birth certificate" Come on how stupid are these people. The real issue is: BAN LOBBYISM it is the rotten core of the US.
- 1022 days agoSwingjay! I rest my case. Now you can easily classify people by what news channel they watch! What a genius! Atomeve! You and I will never agree because you see evil rich people and privileged elite stealing from the poor disadvantaged without exception. Truth is I grew up poor, blew a full ride grant because of a physical handicap, was lucky enough to be hospitalized with other youngsters of all races (polio if you are wondering) without regard to their backgrounds. This contributed to my colorblindness and lack of sex bias. Kids are kids and I got to know kids of all colors, even when the hospital waiting rooms were segregated as well as the restrooms, water fountains and the cafes and lunch counters all over town. In past years I would be called "crippled", "handicapped", "disabled" or even "physically challenged". I don't accept any of these labels any more than one of my closest friends accepts "african-american". We are Americans who stand together, knowing that through God's grace and our own efforts, we have become very successful in our fields. There you go, know-it-all goof-balls!
- 1022 days agoFreedom of speech is a right for citizens to speak freely in public. They have no such right on a privately owned television station. If the network doesn't like what you've said, they have a right to stop you from saying it. So saying that Beck has the right to exercise his free speech is, I'm afraid, dead wrong. If enough people call for his firing, it would not be an infringement of his rights.
- 1022 days agoLike anyone on MSNBC or CNN is credible. I am with everyone on here who refers to free speech. All the liberals seem to be okay with what Jeramiah Wright says. GET BACK TO THE CONSTITUTION not this PC bullshit.
- 1021 days agoi am not arguing with Beck's free speech and nor is anyone else. the constitution remains in tact. Beck can speak freely about whatever, whenever, I just don't think he should be paid to do so.
- 1021 days agoall this talk about obama's 'racist' church. do you realize beck is MORMON! they have recently and openly fought against prop 8 in california to the tune 30+ million dollars, and wouldn't let blacks have the priesthood until 1978!
- 1021 days agoA man does NOT sit through 52 weeks a year for 20 years, have his marriage ceremony performed by, and his children baptized by, Jeremiah Wright without sharing the man's views. I've left 2 churches not because it was politically expedient after 20 years of service, but because I didn't share the new pastor's views. I left immediately. I didn't return. I didn't suffer through 20 years, week after week. Then ask the minister to baptize my children. Then leave. Nope. I heard what the man said and I didn't agree. I didn't go back. Simple. Mr. Obama didn't do this. He sat there week after week, nodding his agreement. Consenting to the hateful things this man spouted. Agreeing to the angry racist rhetoric. Year after year, week after week. Do you see the pattern yet? Can you catch a glimpse of why some people might think he may be a tad racist? Can you at least admit it looks bad? If you cannot see evidence that is clear and simple, how can you be trusted with that which is complex, and difficult? 'nuff said.
- 1021 days agoI want to be a conservative.. I'm a strong christian and believe in a lot of the values of the right. I believe americans should keep their money and don't believe social programs benefit america. I'm tired of the spending liberals that are taxing like crazy and wasting all of our money on crazy stimulus plans and driving down the value of the american dollar by the mad spending.. BUT seeing comments from Glenn Beck and other "conservatives", I can't support that party when all I hear about his hatred and fear. Conservatives shouldn't be about that, get back to the core people! Protect america and stop with this hatred crap!
- 1021 days agoBeck supported his "racist" comment the following day and posted a 15 minute replay of it with audio quotes to back it up. Glenn Beck Dot Com. BO May not be a racist, but he has diminished his white background and upbringing so he can play the race card when it helps him. He Called the police a racist by implication and calling him and the department stupid, not based on facts, but previous experience of minorities being pulled over more than whites (A point I am not disputing). So BO is being racist by lumping all police as stupid, and incapable of overlooking ones color while trying to do there job, Gates sounds like he went overboard. Take the converse if you can. A black officer, doing his job, a white harvard professor impies the black cop is racist, incompitent, or anything, what would you have... Jessie, Sharpton, and NAACP would be calling for his dismissal from Harvard, and BO would be silent if not supportive, but instead, there kicking back a couple of cold beers minimizing his own pre suposition that white is bad, uncapable of being fare or colorblind, or compassionate. Listen to Becks support of his comment, decide for yourself. Truth isnt afraid of criticism because its the truth.
- 1021 days agoAlso, if anyone listens to Beck, you would also know he bashes Republicans as much as if not more than Democrats. He supports the Constitution, small government, and the ability of the state, and the family to make better decisions for its well being than the federal government. Who the Hell is going to pay all this debt we are racking up when we are demonizing the rich guy, taxing the rich guy, taxing the small business owners out of existence as the health care plan can and will do. A poor man has never hired me. My Congressmen told some of us today that there are 52 different groups, beurocratic policy groups that are written into the health care legislation, 52 possible road blocks (all of which will need funding, and much like temporary toll booths, they never go away) between you and your doctors deciding if you can get health care. Republican leaders made a mailer that had a flow chart of all 52 of these buerocratic groups and what part they will play in your health care process. Dems knocked down the funding for the mailing and refused to let it be seen, so you and I wouldnt see this billfor what it truly is. Even the Blue Dogs are being appeased with consessions, but once we open this door we willnever close it, andit will be formed back into the money sucking power grab it is intended to be, it will be the end of our countries ability to maintain itself, and like government always does, whenit brakes, they will just throw more money at it. Our kids white and black will be enslaved to a government that lusts more power, at what ever the cost. Our Kids and Grandkids will look at us, this generation and say "What the Hell were you thinking"
- 1019 days agoIf you consider yourself a Liberal, why are you watching Fox News? And on the race card, all Americans need to stop looking at the color of our skin and look into each others eyes. There we can see the true person we are and can be. Oh, and about the talk concerning who can afford to go to college, maybe you need to go to some of the universities out there and see all the programs available for people of all "classes" (another term we need to ditch). I personnally believe we are all from one race - I call it the Human Race. Let me know if you see any others! And maybe we need to remember that as children we probably got into trouble for using the word "stupid". Whoever you are and whatever you stand for, remember we are Americans and there are people still willing to sacrafice it all to get into this country. Haven't seen any leaving to find a better way of life. So Liberal, Conservative, or whatever, be willing to get all the facts and try to put yourself in someone else's shoes before we rush to conclusions. On the Health Care System, hasn't government skrewed up enough already? Remember it is "We the People" you know the human race!
- 1018 days agoI think Glenn Beck is using again. When he was with CNN he said he is a recovering addict. CNN fired him because they found he back to using DRUGS. Like his using buddy Rush Limbaugh who is addicted to Oxycontin they are so wasted that they sound like crack heads but think they know all. Hey Glenn go to a meeting you need one.
- 1018 days agoGlenn Beck wow have you ever gain weight. You really look bloated. When you were NOT using you looked slim and healthy. Stop using. Why are you so full of hate. What's next a white pointy hat?
- 1002 days agoFox News and Glenn Beck smash the competition in ratings for a reason: they resonate with by far the largest segment of viewers. Say what you want about Beck and Fox - that is your right, and every opinion made in good faith counts. However, if you criticize Beck and Fox, to be fair you need to identify and include their millions viewers in that criticism. I commended you for expressing your views in a format such as this that stimulates conversation, rather than just lobbing accusations and opinions unilaterally.
