Intershame On: Neil Cavuto |
Today See A Lighter Side of Intershame
09/03/2009
Last night, Fox News' Neil Cavuto interviewed famous assisted suicide pioneer "Dr. Death" Jack Kevorkian.
When you look at this interview in it's entirety my reason for shaming Cavuto is minuscule, so let's get it out of the way - Cavuto juxtaposed video of President Obama discussing end of life issues next to Kevorkian 's comments about assisted suicide making the allusion that Obama wants to systimatically kill the elderly. Shame, shame, shame. (I think I'm actually getting numb to Fox News' tactics)
Now, moving on.
I've never written the following words on this site and I hesitate to do so now, but: This interview is a MUST see. I post a lot of articles on Intershame, all of which I'm proud of and stand behind, but this...
The interview is an captivating train wreck from start to finish. Kevorkian is clearly flirting with senility and what's left upstairs comes out of his mouth as incoherent, insane and... funny. Sounds awful, but dammit if it isn't. The interview is absurd, but in Part 3 it becomes hysterical. And not in that, "wow this is so pathetic it's laughable" sort of funny. It's legitimately hilarious. From Kevorkian's long-winded crazy-talk to Cavuto's struggle to keep from laughing his ass off, it's comedy gold from the moment it begins. In fact, as the interview winds down the Fox News crew loses their struggle with composure and can be clearly heard cracking-up in the background. It's a wonder they kept it together as long as they did.
I couldn't.
Watch the entire interview for context if you like, but skip to Part 3 if you just want the goods...

- 330 days agoGood ol\\\' Jack. Too bad his name has a negative connotation when in reality his philosophy is the most rational. He is right, death is a natural part of life. The average sheep are so petrified of death they have to create some myth to be satiated in delusion. I wish I could be. Life would be nicer.
Kevorkian could have thrown some other big name philosopher in there besides Arthur Schopennhauer. Seneca and Nietzsche would agree. So would Freud, even though he hated being called a philosopher. But only the thin upper-stratum of intellectuals can even understand these people while the rest find it beyond them.
Alteast Cavuto was respectful and gave him alot of time. Now if he could only rid himself of childish beliefs which comfort him and re-examine reality with the mindset that truth and reality are not necessarily synonymous with the concept of 'good.'
