Nic
Last Friday afternoon, blogger "Nic" at mybottlesup.com wrote an impassioned and heart-wrenching piece about her experience at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson airport.

Nic wrote of her experience with the TSA and how they had to pull her aside during the screening process in order to check her further. Complicating matters was her 2 year old son who was traveling with her. You see, Nic claimed that during the additional screening process, a TSA agent took her son and removed him from her sight a time period of about 10 minutes. Nic goes on to describe the event in great detail, "minute by terrifying minute..." Here's an except from her story:
I handed him my son and he walked away with my child.

My eyes welled up with tears, I stood up from my chair and I asked the female TSA agent, “Where is he going? Where is he taking my child? Why is he leaving?”

Jackson, while being whisked away looked at the male TSA agent awkwardly and repeated “no no no no.”

I started crying.

The female TSA agent did not answer me.

Panic set in. My hands began to shake. My body was sweating. My breath was short and my heart was racing.

They had taken my child and not told me.

Jackson was out of my eye sight.

I could not see my son.
Tragic, no? You can read the full account here.

So why am I Intershaming this poor mother? You see that's the funny part. Her entire story was bullshit from start to finish.

No, that's not accurate. She didn't make everything up, just the important stuff. She did travel through Atlanta that day, was detained by the TSA for additional screening and she did have her son with her. However, at no time did the TSA take her son and remove him from Nic's sight. Nic placed her son harmlessly in his stroller that was sitting about 2 feet from her while she was getting padded down. The padding down process took about a minute and the child was never seperated from his mother.

How do I know this? That's the best part. The TSA released video footage of the entire incident. Additionally, here's what they have to say about the incident...
After watching the video footage, you'll see the video clearly shows that this individual was never separated from her baby by TSA. You'll also see that a lot of the other claims are also unfounded.
Once you know the truth about this incident, Nic's article reads like a really bad Nora Roberts novel. Nic's emotional trauma, her frantic phone calls to her mom and husband, her irate shouting at the TSA agents - all fiction. Bad fiction.

I don't know what happened to inspire Nic to write this article. Perhaps she was angry at the TSA for detaining her and wanted to get back at them. Maybe she just wanted attention. Either way, her story was an elaborate fabrication and certainly worthy of Intershame.
