Intershame On: School Districts Who Censored Obama |
A Terrible Lesson For America's Kids
09/11/2009
"Stay in school and work hard" = Socialism
Below is a list of school districts that did not show President Obama's speech to school children on Tuesday morning. These school districts taught America's children an important lesson... if the president isn't from the political party you support, that president deserves no respect and isn't worth listening to.
I wonder if the parents and administrators in these districts were simply afraid that if their children were exposed to President Obama, they'd quickly discover he isn't the America-destroying communist they're trying to make him out to be.
Whatever the motive was, I'm 100% sure these people weren't driven by the belief that Obama was going to talk policy to their 6 year olds. How could they possibly believe that? The text of the speech was available before hand and had not one sentence of politics within. If opponents didn't read it, then those people are simply ignorant and should be ignored. If opponents did read the speech and still found fault in its contents, they clearly don't have the analysis skills needed to be taken seriously in debate.
However, the most insidious amongst the "speechers" are the ones who could care less what the speech said. For reasons known only to them, they didn't want President Obama addressing their children under any circumstance.
It's these people that shouldn't be ignored. It's these people that should be confronted at every opportunity. To remain silent in the face of unjustifiable hate is to condone it. And hate can't be condoned. Hate must be exposed, not so it can matched with a counter-punch of rage, but so it can be unmasked, reprimanded and shamed out of existence.

- 979 days agoI'm glad somebody made sure my city was on this list. The idea the "college towns" are more liberal has gone by the wayside. We have two large universities here in Denton, TX (one has the 4th largest enrollment in the state at nearly 35,000 students), but the city is surrounded by and filled with a variety of racists, misogynists, white-trash, and your basic rednecks. I bet no one at the district took the time to actually read the transcript before making this decision.
nohandouts (gc)978 days agoOf course you're not going to bother to mention it was not the speech itself which was only released a day before, but the curriculum which was given to the districts well before hand that many objected to. I do find it ironic that his speech said what the kids can do for the county when he campaigned on the "what handouts the country can give you" platform. Of course, given the fact that Censored is spelled with an S in the middle not a C in the middle, I wouldn't expect intelligent thought to factor in.- 974 days agoWhat's wrong with asking kids what they can do for their country? There was a nation-wide orgasm when John Kennedy said it. Besides, from what I've seen of the generation that came after mine (and I have a sibling that's in this generation, so I've seen it first-hand), they need to start thinking of others and the nation rather than remain self-centered brats who can't function without their helicopter parents. And what the hell were you trying to say with "...given the fact that Censored is spelled with an S in the middle not a C in the middle, I wouldn't expect intelligent thought to factor in?" If you were alluding to the word "sense," it's a pretty long stretch to get that out of "censor." If you switch the C and S you get "sencor," and if you just have S and no C you get "sensor." One is not a word, and the other has nothing to do with cognition, so your statement about intelligent thought must have been reflexive?
