Cheerleader in Blackface
11/03/2009
Deadspin broke this one...
Pretty messed up, huh? Apparently this Dallas Cowboy cheerleader didn't think so. Maybe the blow-back she'll receive will make her reconsider.
When are people going to learn that you cannot upload photos to your Facebook page if you don't want them to get out? What we have here (allegedly) is a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader dressed as Lil' Wayne. In blackface.Putting on the blackface makeup has been rightfully taboo for a long time now. There's a reason that all television re-broadcasts of Holiday Inn omit Bing Crosby's blackface performance. Don't know what I'm talking about? Wrap your outrage around this then...
The cheerleader in question. according to the Facebook screenshots, appears to be 21-year-old Whitney Isleib, who I assume is dressing up for Halloween as Lil Wayne. According to her profile page on DallasCowboysCheerleaders.com, her hobbies include "dancing, sleeping, eating, and watching movies" and her favorites books are "mysteries." An anonymous tipster made us aware of these photos on her Facebook page.

- 926 days agoAll I can say is WTF...Not just because of the blackface, but how can ugly, skanky bitch be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader?!?
- 918 days agoYes, blackface is socially taboo, and for good reason. It traditionally symbolizes racial bigotry. In this case, however, the issue seems to be blown out of proportion. She dressed up as Lil Wayne, not Lil Black Sambo. Getting riled up about it is ridiculous. It was a halloween costume, woopty-fuckin-doo. She was not using it as a way to mock black people, but merely as a way to better her likeness of the rapper for the sake of a costume. The whole reason that blackface is wrong is because it is and was used as a way to purposely disgrace a people as a whole, and that is obviously not was this girl was doing. Get over it and go listen to Rush Limbaugh or that fool OReilly. They will give you something to actually get worked up about that matters.

Blackface is racist because of where it originated, but lets be honest, this is a cheerleader. Do you think she has ever even heard of blackface or knew this was racist? It is highly unlikely. Don't get mad at her for wanting to have the sickest costume
